Antiflu 75 mg Capsule

Neuraminidase inhibitor antiviral for:

• Treatment of influenza A and B — start within 48 hours of symptoms (later in severe/hospitalised or high-risk patients)
• Prevention of influenza after close exposure (post-exposure prophylaxis) or during outbreaks

Treatment (5 days), twice daily:

• Adults and children ≥ 40 kg: 75 mg twice daily
• Children ≥ 1 year: 10–15 kg 30 mg; 15–23 kg 45 mg; 23–40 kg 60 mg — twice daily
• Infants 0–12 months: 3 mg/kg twice daily

Prevention (10 days after exposure), once daily: same doses as above but once daily.

Kidney impairment (CrCl 30–60): 30 mg twice daily (treatment); CrCl 10–30: 30 mg once daily.

• With or without food (food reduces nausea).

• Allergy to oseltamivir

Common: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, diarrhoea.

Rare but serious: neuropsychiatric events (confusion, abnormal behaviour, hallucinations — mainly in children/adolescents with influenza), severe skin reactions, allergic reactions, liver inflammation.

• Watch children and adolescents for unusual behaviour.
• Not a substitute for the annual flu vaccine.
• Live attenuated (nasal) flu vaccine should not be given within 2 weeks after (or 48 hours before) oseltamivir.

Recommended for treatment and prevention of influenza in pregnancy (pregnant women are at higher risk of severe flu). Compatible with breastfeeding.

• Live attenuated influenza vaccine (reduced effect)
• Probenecid (raises levels — no dose change usually needed)

Nausea and vomiting. Supportive care.

Store below 25–30°C. Reconstituted suspension: refrigerate and use within 10–17 days as per pack.
