Beclomin Inhaler

Corticosteroid used as:

• Inhaler: regular prevention of asthma (preventer)
• Nasal spray: allergic and non-allergic rhinitis, nasal polyps
• Cream/ointment: eczema, dermatitis (often with antibiotic/antifungal)

Asthma inhaler (adults): 100–400 mcg twice daily (standard particle), adjusted to the lowest dose that controls symptoms; extra-fine particle inhalers use about half the dose.

Children 5–12: 50–200 mcg twice daily (specialist for higher doses).

Nasal spray (50 mcg/spray): adults 2 sprays each nostril twice daily (max 400 mcg/day); children 6–12: 1 spray each nostril twice daily.

Cream: apply thinly 1–2 times daily.

• Rinse mouth after inhaler use; use a spacer if possible.
• Not for relief of acute attacks.

• Allergy to beclomethasone
• Skin: untreated infections, acne, rosacea

Inhaled: hoarseness, oral thrush, sore throat, cough; rarely paradoxical bronchospasm; long-term high doses — adrenal suppression, growth slowing in children, cataract, glaucoma, osteoporosis.

Nasal: nosebleeds, dryness, sneezing, unpleasant taste.

Skin: thinning with prolonged use.

• Do not stop suddenly after long high-dose use.
• Monitor children's growth.
• Active or latent TB, untreated infections: caution.

Inhaled and nasal use can continue in pregnancy and breastfeeding — uncontrolled asthma is riskier.

• Ritonavir, cobicistat, ketoconazole, itraconazole (raise steroid levels)

Short-term overdose unlikely to harm; long-term excess may suppress adrenal function.

Store below 30°C. Inhaler: protect from heat and frost; do not puncture or burn.
