Indications

Antacid (aluminium-magnesium complex) with an anti-gas agent for:

Heartburn, acid indigestion, hyperacidity, gastritis symptoms
Bloating, wind and abdominal discomfort

Dosage & administration

Adults: 5–10 ml suspension (or 1–2 chewable tablets) 3–4 times daily, between meals (1 hour after) and at bedtime, or when symptoms occur.

Children over 6 years: half the adult dose, as directed.

Shake well. Do not exceed the dose on the pack; not for regular use beyond 2 weeks without advice.

Severe kidney impairment
Low phosphate, high magnesium
Allergy to any ingredient

Side effects

Usually well tolerated. Occasional soft stools, diarrhoea or constipation. Long-term high doses in kidney failure: magnesium/aluminium accumulation.

Precautions & warnings

Kidney disease: avoid regular use.
Persistent symptoms, weight loss, swallowing difficulty or bleeding need medical review.
Some suspensions contain sugar.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding

Occasional use is considered safe in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Interactions

Take 2–4 hours apart from: tetracyclines, quinolones, iron, levothyroxine, digoxin, ketoconazole, bisphosphonates.

Overdose

Diarrhoea; in kidney failure, magnesium excess (weakness, drowsiness). Seek advice.

Storage

Store below 30°C; do not freeze.
