Exilant 60 mg Capsule

Proton-pump inhibitor with dual delayed release for:

• Healing of erosive oesophagitis and relief of heartburn
• Maintenance of healed erosive oesophagitis
• Symptomatic non-erosive GERD (heartburn)

Adults:

• Erosive oesophagitis healing: 60 mg once daily for up to 8 weeks.
• Maintenance: 30 mg once daily (up to 6 months in studies).
• Heartburn (non-erosive GERD): 30 mg once daily for 4 weeks.

Children 12–17 years: same as adults.

Moderate liver impairment: maximum 30 mg/day.

• Can be taken with or without food; swallow capsule whole, or open and sprinkle on a spoon of applesauce (do not chew).

• Allergy to dexlansoprazole, lansoprazole or other PPIs
• Use with rilpivirine

Common: diarrhoea, abdominal pain, nausea, wind, vomiting, upper respiratory infection.

Long-term: low magnesium, vitamin B12 deficiency, fractures, C. difficile diarrhoea, stomach polyps.

Rare: kidney inflammation, severe skin reactions, lupus-like rash.

• Exclude stomach cancer if alarm symptoms are present.
• Lowest dose for shortest time; check magnesium on long-term use.

Limited data; use in pregnancy only if needed. Unknown if it passes into milk — use if benefit outweighs risk.

• Rilpivirine (contraindicated); atazanavir, nelfinavir (avoid)
• Ketoconazole, iron, erlotinib, mycophenolate (absorption reduced)
• Methotrexate high dose, tacrolimus, warfarin (monitor)

No serious effects expected; supportive care.
