Glucotin Max Tablet

Slow-acting symptomatic combination for:

• Osteoarthritis of the knee and hip (pain and stiffness), as add-on to other treatment

Adults: 1 capsule (diacerein 50 mg + glucosamine 750 mg or as labelled) once daily with the evening meal for the first 2–4 weeks, then 1 capsule twice daily with meals.

• Effect starts after 2–4 weeks; review after 3–6 months.
• Not for patients over 65 (diacerein) or children.

• Liver disease or history of liver disease
• Inflammatory bowel disease, bowel obstruction
• Shellfish allergy (glucosamine)
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding
• Age over 65 (diacerein restrictions)

Very common: diarrhoea, soft stools, abdominal pain; dark/yellow urine (harmless).

Common: itching, rash, eczema, nausea, bloating.

Rare but serious: liver injury; severe diarrhoea causing dehydration and low potassium.

• Stop if diarrhoea occurs (do not continue with severe diarrhoea).
• Liver tests if symptoms of liver problems.
• Diabetes: monitor sugar (glucosamine).
• Avoid laxatives during treatment.

Contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

• Laxatives, diuretics (diarrhoea, low potassium)
• Antacids with aluminium/magnesium (reduce diacerein absorption — take 2 hours apart)
• Warfarin (glucosamine may raise INR)
• Antibiotics (may increase diarrhoea)

Diarrhoea, dehydration. Supportive care.
