Lactocal 300 mg Tablet

Calcium supplement for:

• Calcium deficiency and prevention (diet low in calcium, pregnancy, breastfeeding, growth, elderly)
• Adjunct in osteoporosis (with vitamin D)
• Mild hypocalcaemia

Adults: as labelled — calcium lactate contains about 13% elemental calcium (300 mg tablet ≈ 39 mg calcium); typical supplement provides 500–1,000 mg elemental calcium daily in divided doses.

• Effervescent calcium lactate gluconate (e.g. 500–1,000 mg calcium): dissolve in water, once daily.

Children: as directed by the doctor according to age.

• Can be taken with or without food (does not need stomach acid).

• High blood or urine calcium
• Severe kidney impairment, calcium kidney stones
• Allergy to any ingredient

Usually well tolerated; occasional constipation, wind, nausea. Excess: high calcium (thirst, nausea, confusion), kidney stones.

• Kidney disease, kidney stones, sarcoidosis: medical advice.
• Effervescent forms contain sodium — caution in hypertension/heart failure.
• Do not exceed the total recommended daily calcium intake.

Safe in pregnancy and breastfeeding at recommended doses.

Take 2–4 hours apart from: tetracyclines, quinolones, levothyroxine, bisphosphonates, iron, zinc.

• Thiazide diuretics (high calcium)
• Digoxin (arrhythmia with high calcium)

High calcium: nausea, vomiting, thirst, confusion — seek medical advice.

Store below 30°C, dry; keep effervescent tubes tightly closed.
