Norvis 200 mg/100 ml Syrup

Antispasmodic (anticholinergic) for painful spasms of smooth muscle:

• Abdominal cramps and colic, irritable bowel syndrome
• Biliary and renal (kidney stone) colic
• Painful periods (dysmenorrhoea)
• Spasm-related pain in the urinary tract

Adults: 50 mg two to three times daily (maximum 150 mg/day).

Injection: 5 mg IM/slow IV, repeated up to 3 times daily if needed (in hospital/clinic).

Children: syrup by weight/age, as prescribed.

• Take with meals.

• Allergy to tiemonium
• Angle-closure glaucoma
• Difficulty passing urine due to an enlarged prostate or urethral obstruction
• Paralytic ileus, toxic megacolon, severe ulcerative colitis
• Myasthenia gravis

Common: dry mouth, thirst, constipation, blurred vision, fast heartbeat.

Less common: difficulty passing urine, dizziness, drowsiness, reduced sweating, flushing.

Rare: allergic reactions.

• Use with care in heart disease with fast heart rate, overactive thyroid, hot climates (less sweating) and the elderly.
• Blurred vision — take care when driving.
• Sudden severe abdominal pain should be checked by a doctor (may hide appendicitis or other emergencies).

Avoid in pregnancy unless clearly needed. Avoid while breastfeeding (may reduce milk and affect the baby).

• Other anticholinergic drugs (antihistamines, tricyclic antidepressants, antipsychotics, disopyramide) — more dry mouth, constipation, urinary retention
• Metoclopramide, domperidone (opposite effect on the gut)

Very dry mouth, flushed hot skin, fast heartbeat, dilated pupils, urinary retention, confusion or agitation. Seek medical care.

Store below 30°C, protected from light.
