Nyclobate Scalp Application 50 mg/100 ml Lotion

Very potent topical corticosteroid for short-term treatment of severe inflammatory skin conditions that have not responded to weaker steroids:

• Psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis), including scalp psoriasis
• Severe eczema, lichen planus, lichen simplex
• Discoid lupus
• Other steroid-responsive skin disorders

Adults and children over 12 years: apply a thin layer to the affected area once or twice daily until improvement (usually within a few days), then reduce.

• Maximum 50 g per week, and usually no longer than 2–4 weeks continuously.
• Scalp lotion/shampoo: as directed on the pack.
• Use the fingertip unit guide (one fingertip unit covers two adult palms).
• Wash hands after applying (unless treating the hands).
• Children under 12: only under specialist supervision; not for infants.

• Untreated bacterial, fungal or viral skin infections (impetigo, ringworm, herpes, chickenpox, warts)
• Acne, rosacea, perioral dermatitis
• Itching around the anus or genitals without inflammation
• Children under 1 year (infant dermatoses, nappy rash)
• Allergy to the product

Common: local burning, itching, irritation.

With prolonged or excessive use: thinning of the skin, stretch marks, visible blood vessels, easy bruising, changes in skin colour, acne, excess hair, secondary infection, rebound flare when stopped.

Systemic (large areas, occlusion, long use): adrenal suppression, Cushing's features, raised blood sugar; in children growth delay.

Rare: glaucoma or cataract if used near the eyes, pustular psoriasis on stopping.

• Do not use on the face, armpits, groin or under bandages unless advised.
• Keep away from the eyes.
• Do not stop suddenly after long use — taper.
• Not for use as a cosmetic skin-lightening product.
• Flammable residue: keep away from flames (on dressings/clothing).

Use in pregnancy only if necessary, for the shortest time on small areas. Breastfeeding: do not apply to the breasts.

Few interactions. Ritonavir and itraconazole may increase systemic effects with extensive use.

Long-term excessive use can cause adrenal suppression; reduce gradually under medical supervision.

Store below 30°C. Do not freeze.
