Indications

NSAID eye drops (0.09%, 0.07%) for:

Inflammation and pain after cataract surgery

Dosage & administration

Adults: 1 drop in the operated eye once or twice daily (depending on the product), starting 1 day before surgery (or the day after, as directed) and continuing for 2 weeks after surgery.

Wait at least 5 minutes between this and other eye drops.
Not for children.

Contraindications

Allergy to bromfenac, aspirin or other NSAIDs (asthma, hives, rhinitis triggered by NSAIDs)
Sulphite allergy (some products)

Side effects

Common: eye irritation, burning/stinging, redness, itching, abnormal sensation in the eye, headache.

Serious (especially with prolonged use or in high-risk eyes): delayed corneal healing, corneal thinning, ulceration or melting; increased bleeding of eye tissues during surgery.

Precautions & warnings

Do not use longer than prescribed.
Diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, dry eye, corneal problems, repeated eye surgery: higher risk of corneal problems.
Do not wear soft contact lenses during treatment.
Bleeding tendencies/anticoagulants: caution.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding

Avoid in late pregnancy (NSAID). Use in breastfeeding only if needed.

Interactions

Topical steroids (may increase corneal healing problems)
Anticoagulants/antiplatelets (bleeding at surgery)

Overdose

Rinse eye with water. Systemic effects are not expected.

Storage

Store below 25–30°C. Discard 4 weeks after opening.
