Osteocil 250 mg/200 mg Tablet

Joint supplement used for:

• Symptom relief of mild to moderate osteoarthritis, especially of the knee (evidence is mixed; some people benefit)
• Supporting cartilage and joint health

Adults: typically glucosamine 1,500 mg + chondroitin 1,200 mg daily, in 1–3 divided doses with meals (follow the product label, e.g. 1 tablet two to three times daily).

• Effect develops slowly: try for 2–3 months; stop if no benefit after 3–6 months.
• Not for children.

• Shellfish allergy (glucosamine is often made from shellfish) — use a non-shellfish product
• Allergy to any ingredient
• Children and adolescents

Uncommon: stomach upset, nausea, heartburn, diarrhoea or constipation, bloating, headache, drowsiness.

Rare: allergic reactions, raised blood sugar in diabetes, raised blood pressure, eyelid swelling.

• Diabetes: monitor blood sugar when starting.
• Asthma: rarely may worsen.
• Bleeding disorders or on blood thinners: caution (chondroitin has mild anticoagulant effects).
• Glucosamine sulphate products may contain sodium or potassium.

Not recommended in pregnancy or breastfeeding (insufficient data).

• Warfarin (raised INR and bleeding reported) — avoid or monitor closely
• Diabetes medicines (monitor sugar)
• Paracetamol, tetracyclines (minor interactions)

Stomach upset. Seek advice for large ingestions.
