SB-Rabec 20 mg Capsule

Proton-pump inhibitor for:

• Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), heartburn, erosive oesophagitis
• Duodenal and gastric ulcers
• H. pylori eradication (with antibiotics)
• Zollinger–Ellison syndrome

Adults:

• GERD / erosive oesophagitis: 20 mg once daily for 4–8 weeks; maintenance 10–20 mg daily.
• Heartburn (non-erosive): 10 mg once daily.
• Duodenal ulcer: 20 mg once daily for 4 weeks; gastric ulcer 20 mg daily for 6 weeks.
• H. pylori: 20 mg twice daily with two antibiotics for 7–14 days.

Adolescents 12 years and over: 20 mg once daily for GERD (up to 8 weeks).

• Swallow whole in the morning before food; do not chew or crush.

• Allergy to rabeprazole or other PPIs
• Use with rilpivirine

Common: headache, diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain, wind, constipation, dry mouth, infections like colds.

Long-term: low magnesium, vitamin B12 deficiency, fractures, C. difficile diarrhoea, stomach polyps.

Rare: severe skin reactions, kidney inflammation, liver problems, low blood counts.

• Exclude stomach cancer if alarm symptoms are present.
• Use the lowest dose for the shortest time; check magnesium with long-term use.
• Severe liver disease: use with caution.

Limited data; use in pregnancy only if needed. Not recommended while breastfeeding (unknown passage into milk).

• Rilpivirine (contraindicated), atazanavir (avoid)
• Ketoconazole, itraconazole, iron (absorption reduced)
• Methotrexate high dose, warfarin, digoxin (monitor)

Limited experience; supportive care.
