Telmipres 80 Tablet

Combination of an ARB and a thiazide diuretic for high blood pressure not adequately controlled by telmisartan alone.

Adults: one tablet once daily — telmisartan 40 mg + HCTZ 12.5 mg, 80/12.5 or 80/25 mg (maximum).

• Preferably in the morning, with or without food.
• Mild–moderate liver impairment: maximum 40/12.5 mg.
• Not for children or severe kidney impairment.

• Pregnancy
• Cholestasis, biliary obstruction, severe liver impairment
• Severe kidney impairment/anuria
• Low potassium, high calcium (resistant), symptomatic gout
• Allergy to telmisartan, thiazides or sulphonamides
• Use with aliskiren in diabetes or kidney impairment

Common: dizziness, tiredness, low blood pressure on standing, raised uric acid, low potassium/sodium, raised sugar and lipids.

Less common: back pain, muscle cramps, sun sensitivity, impotence, diarrhoea.

Rare but serious: angioedema, kidney failure, acute angle-closure glaucoma, pancreatitis, non-melanoma skin cancer risk with long-term HCTZ.

• Check potassium, sodium, kidney function, sugar and uric acid periodically.
• Use sun protection; check skin regularly.
• Report sudden eye pain or blurred vision.

Contraindicated in pregnancy. Not recommended while breastfeeding.

• Lithium (toxicity); NSAIDs (kidney injury, less effect)
• Potassium supplements/potassium-sparing diuretics
• Digoxin, sotalol, QT drugs (risk if potassium falls)
• Corticosteroids, laxatives (low potassium)
• Diabetes medicines (dose may change)

Low blood pressure, dehydration, electrolyte loss. Seek medical care.
