Unique's Whitefild Ointment

Keratolytic antifungal ointment (Whitfield's ointment) for:

• Ringworm of the skin (tinea corporis, cruris), athlete's foot (tinea pedis)
• Thickened, scaly fungal skin lesions
• Pityriasis versicolor

Adults and children over 2 years: apply a thin layer to the affected area twice daily (morning and night) after washing and drying the skin.

• Continue for 2 weeks after the skin appears clear (usually 3–6 weeks total).
• Avoid applying to broken or raw skin.

• Allergy to salicylates or benzoic acid
• Broken, inflamed, raw or weeping skin
• Use on large areas of the body, especially in children (salicylate absorption)
• Infants under 2 years

Common: mild burning, stinging, irritation, redness and peeling (expected keratolytic action).

Rare: allergic contact dermatitis; salicylate toxicity with extensive use on large areas (ringing in ears, nausea, fast breathing).

• Keep away from eyes, mouth and mucous membranes.
• Do not use on the face or genital skin unless advised (may irritate).
• Stop if severe irritation develops.
• Keep skin folds clean and dry; do not share towels.

Use on small areas only in pregnancy and breastfeeding; do not apply to the breast.

Extensive use: may add to salicylate effects of aspirin and anticoagulants (rarely relevant with small areas).

Ingestion or extensive use may cause salicylate toxicity — seek medical care.

Store below 30°C.
