Zinc AG-1 Syrup

Mineral supplement for:

• Children with diarrhoea (with ORS): shortens the illness and reduces recurrence
• Zinc deficiency (poor diet, malabsorption, chronic illness)
• Wound healing support, some skin conditions (acne)
• Wilson's disease (zinc acetate, specialist use)

Childhood diarrhoea (WHO): under 6 months 10 mg elemental zinc once daily; 6 months–5 years 20 mg once daily — for 10–14 days, together with ORS.

Adults (deficiency): 15–50 mg elemental zinc daily, or as directed.

• Dissolve dispersible tablets in a little water or breast milk for infants.
• Best taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals; take with food if it upsets the stomach.

• Allergy to the product
• Copper deficiency

Common: nausea, vomiting (especially on an empty stomach), stomach discomfort, metallic taste.

With long-term high doses: copper deficiency (anaemia, low white cells, nerve problems).

• Do not use high doses for long periods without advice.
• Kidney failure: zinc may accumulate.

Safe at recommended doses in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

• Tetracyclines, quinolones (ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin), penicillamine (absorption reduced — take 2–3 hours apart)
• Iron and calcium supplements (reduce zinc absorption)
• High-dose zinc reduces copper absorption

Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea, dizziness. Seek medical advice.

Store below 30°C, dry, out of reach of children.
